Jojoba Oil Benefits + DIY Solid Perfume Recipe
Jojoba oil one of my ultimate beauty staples. I use it as a moisturizer, makeup remover, cleanser, hair detangler, massage oil, basically everything.
It’s also my favorite carrier oil when it comes to making DIY beauty products. It’s naturally hydrating, antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal, analgesic (pain-relieving), anti-inflammatory, and hypoallergenic. Jojoba also contains healing vitamins A, D and E and Omega 6 and 9 essential fatty acids, which make skin incredibly happy.
And here’s an interesting tidbit – jojoba “oil” isn’t actually an oil at all. It’s a wax, and it’s very similar to the wax esters that we naturally produce, which allows it to easily penetrate the deeper layers of skin where cell regeneration and cell synthesis occurs.
Btw, my current favorite brand of jojoba oil is The Jojoba Company Australia. Their 100% Natural Australian Jojoba is top quality, and their packaging is on fleek. 😉
All right, now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s make some vegan perfume!
DIY Solid Perfume
- 2 tsp candelilla wax
- 2 tsp jojoba oil
- 40-50 drops essential oils
Super simple essential oil combos to try:
- Peppermint and grapefruit
- Lavender and orange
Melt candelilla wax in a double boiler over low heat. Once melted, add jojoba oil and stir for a minute or two. Remove from heat and add in your essential oils. Stir, baby, stir! Immediately pour perfume mixture into a metal tin or empty (and clean) lip balm tube. Let cool until solid. Apply and smell fly! Easy-peasy, right? 🙂 xo
